Daily Discovery: Village 631

I woke up this morning in a bad mood.  A really bad mood.  For the first time all week I got up, took a shower, put on jeans, and got the heck out of my house.

I found the closest coffee shop that wasn’t a Starbucks and made a beeline there.  It opened at seven, and I was there are 7:05.

The moment I walked in, I fell in love.  It’s a coffee and wine bar.  They call it Village 631, I call it “Heaven”.  If I was going to open a business, it would be this… plus books.  Everything about the ambiance is perfect.  Interior exposed brick, comfy velvet chairs, soothing colors, and a playlist that could be titled “best of my own iPod.”

I ordered a latte and a breakfast burrito.  “Do you have time to wait for the burrito?  It’ll take about 15 minutes, because it’s made from scratch,” warned the über friendly barista.  In my head, I thought “DING DING DING! YAHTZEE!” but in real life I calmly assured him I was going to be there for a while.  I settled down near the window to enjoy my coffee and get some work done.

I could feel my stress and anger melt away as I sat there.  By the time my burrito came, I was a whole new woman.  It was delicious, and well worth the wait.

I’m going to be here a lot.

I love it! It’s so perfect! I want a cute coffee shop I can walk to… I’m putting that down as a requirement for my next apartment location.
