Vegas: Part 1

We arrived in Las Vegas around 9:30 Friday night.  After checking into our hotel, we headed down to the casino for a late-night snack.  We chose the sushi restaurant in the Monte Carlo where we were staying.  It really hit the spot after six hours on the road!

After our snack, we went to Minus5 for a drink.  Minus5 is a bar at the Monte Carlo where everything is made of ice.  They line the seating areas with fur, and everyone’s given a coat and gloves before they go in.  My favorite part was drinking my cocktail from a cup made of ice.  It was so cool, crisp, and refreshing!

It was very cold in the bar, though, so the novelty the novelty of the place wore off pretty quickly.  After one drink we called it a night and headed to bed.

The next morning we went to The Egg & I for breakfast.  It’s a restaurant we went to several times last summer during Jason’s extended stay in Vegas for the World Series of Poker.  The food was delicious there, as always, and it was fun to retrace our steps eight months later.

Later that afternoon our friends Aaron and Dawn got into town and the four of us headed to Fremont in the old downtown part of Las Vegas.  One of the attractions there that we’ve never done is the zip line that cruises down the middle of Fremont Street.  Jason, Dawn, and I couldn’t resist it.

 

We had to hurry back to our hotel after zip lining because we were running late for dinner!  I’ll be back later to talk about the rest of the trip.  Till then…
