This is where the magic happens:
Yup. That’s what I’ve got to work with.
These new contemporary condos can feel a bit cold and impersonal, so I think the handmade artwork, family photos, and reminders for special events on the fridge warm everything up a bit. Plus, I can’t remember the last time I had a fridge that was actually magnetic! So I was excited about that.
The best parts are the gas stove and this view.
And of course, a couple cute little decorations I’ve added, like Salt & Pepper shakers from Pier 1, and a wine rack from Ikea.
When I moved in with Jason, we decided that I would handle the grocery shopping and cooking, and he’d do the laundry. In our last condo, we both had much nicer spaces to do our delegated tasks. He says he didn’t mind doing laundry so much when he had his own little “den.” Now we have stacked machines in a closet, and now it really feels like a chore. And I’ve noticed the same thing about me and our new kitchen. Now that I have no cabinet space, no room for food storage, and now counter space, cooking isn’t quite the delight it once was.
But it’s still better than laundry.
(And I still like to eat.)
