San Diego Staycation

My family is spread out across four states (Georgia, Texas, Colorado, and California) so it’s always a challenge and a treat to get us all together.  This weekend is one of those few times a year that it happens, and I’ve really enjoyed it.

Mom, the family cruise director, planned a wonderful weekend for all of us.  Yesterday we met at our family’s favorite sushi joint in Hillcrest before touring the zoo.  Then we headed to charming little Old Town for dinner.  Today, half of us got an early start with an 8:00 AM Segway tour of La Jolla, then breakfast in an adorable little cafe.  We’ve got a relaxing afternoon planned before our weekend together wraps up with a nice family dinner tonight.

Riding the segways was really fun, but my favorite activity of the weekend was the zoo.  The day was cool, so the animals were all very active.  I even had “a moment” with an orangoutang, who was right up against the glass exchanging kisses with me.  Of course, none of those photos came out 😦

About how bout some cake

I'm a 20-something woman with an insatiable thirst for adventure. I love red wine, chocolate cake, and comments from my lovely readers.
