One of Jason’s best friends is in LA for a couple of days, so we popped up yesterday for dinner. He took us to a place called Gyu-Kaku, which is a Japanese BBQ restaurant. Each table has a grill in the middle, and everyone uses little tongs to cook their own food. We ordered about a dozen different kinds of raw meet, plus some rice, noodles, and vegetables. As soon as dishes started arriving, we loaded up the grill with various bites of beef and foil packets of veggies.
My favorite was the teriyaki steak, which arrived to the table thinly sliced and coated in a thick, sweet sauce and a sprinkle of sesame seeds.
It was fun- like a little indoor cookout! I joked that it was the most cooking Jason’s ever done. He seemed to enjoy it; I think there’s a grillmaster buried in there somewhere! Next time you’re looking for a fun and (relatively) healthy place to eat, check out a Japanese BBQ place!
