Extraordinary Desserts

Don’t you hate when a place doesn’t live up to it’s name?  Dollar General, for example.  I haven’t been in one of those in over a decade because not everything in there is a dollar and it pisses me off.

Well, that’s not the case with Extraordinary Desserts.  I first heard about it from someone in Las Vegas over the summer and being the dessert fiend I am, I made a note in my phone about it.  I ‘d kind of forgotten about it until I happened to park right in front of it this morning.  Sure it was 10 AM, but since I was there, I figured I might as well go in and look.  Ha, yeah right.  There was no way I was leaving there without a treat in hand!

Every item in the cases was delicately made by hand and topped with fresh flowers.  Many were golf-leafed, and each was more gorgeous than the last.  My future mother-in-law and I decided to split a cheese cake brownie.  It was so rich, wonderful, and decadent- half was more than enough to satisfy my sweet tooth.  I washed it down with a small cup of their coffee, which also exceeded expectations.

In addition to to-go treats, they have ample seating.  It’d be the perfect place for a first date with a guy from Match.com (when you don’t want to commit to a whole dinner in case the guy sucks) or a solo PMS binge (hey, I’m not here to judge).  Regardless of your motive, anyone in the San Diego area should go pronto.  You’ll probably find me there- I’ll be the girl with chocolate from ear to ear.

OK I now need to hit up a bakery ASAP. I don’t usually like bakery treats–I find them too sweet or just totally unappetizing. But these look incredible. So jealous you get to go here!

I wish I could package one up and send it to you!! But I’m pretty sure it would lose it’s luster en route 😦

  2. I am now craving sweets at 11am! This place looks amazing and those desserts are all SO beautiful! I hate when places don’t live up to their name either (reminds me of that scene in Elf where Will Ferrell goes into the coffee shop with the world’s best cup of coffee) but it looks like this place truly is extraordinary!

Hahaha! Elf is BY FAR my favorite Christmas movie and I can’t wait to watch it this holiday season. Christmas is only like 68 days away!!! 🙂
