My trip to Tahoe was a bit of a disappointment.  I’d planned to spend my time on the slopes while J grinded the poker tables, but the weather was crummy and there was hardly any snow so I ended up spending most of my time with my nose buried in The House of Mirth.  My days were punctuated by meals at The Hard Rock Cafe (yuck) and getting chased off the rail (the area behind the tables where spectators are usually allowed to stand).  So yeah- not what I’d looked forward to.

That said, the trip home was stunningly beautiful.  Here are a few snapshots from the sleepy town of Tahoe and the glorious ride back.

I’m pretty sure this is why they call it “America the beautiful”.

*Sigh* it’s good to be home…

  1. What a shame that you weren’t able to enjoy Tahoe! It’s my hometown and I promise it’s truly a delight if you get to the right places. Next time you’re there, instead of the Hard Rock go to Sprouts- it’s an excellent health food restaurant near the water. Happy travels!

    • I could tell there was a lot of potential there! I wish I’d had your recommendation earlier 🙂 The reason we were stuck with the Hard Rock to much was that it was the only casual dining option at the casino, and the boys only got an hour for dinner break so we had to do something close and quick. Our friend visits there a lot though so I’ll let him know about Sprouts. We also went to Soul Food- it’s in a dingy casino but the food was fabulous and the prices were dirt cheap!

  5. Absolutely gorgeous pictures Rachel! Too bad your time there was a bit of a disappointment! I never realized how similar Tahoe looks to Whistler, the village looks almost identical!
